  2. As some of you may have heard, Radio 2 today discussed a topic relating to the longevity of LED lighting. It transpires that not all LED lamps (bulbs) have been lasting the manufacturers suggested life, it was suggested that the two brands named were both at the lower end of the quality/price scale.

In our experiance the LED downlights which most of the discussion related to have proved to be not only far more reliable then the halogen equivient but with huge heat saving and up to 85% more energy efficient.

With most of our LED products coming with a 5 year warranty, quality & peace of mind come as standard! We continue to recommend LED lighting however would naturally discuss your requirements with you and survey the area to be illuminated.

We are very proud (and exhausted) after spending the weekend with the guys at Surf Action.

Surf Action are a charity based in Penzance Cornwall, who do amazing work with combat veterans. They work hard to put smiles on faces for those who have suffered serving our country, be it PTSD or loss of limbs.

The therapy of the Sea is an integral part of their work as they teach ex service men & women to surf regardless of their physical ability.

We helped in a very small way by rewiring their new facility, and were very very happy to be a very small part in helping with their valuable work.

Check them out, and please support them as we do: www.surfaction.co.uk

  4. Following recent questions from customers, we thought it may be useful to add the following information.

Part L of the building regulations states that (text taken from compliance guide):

    New & Replacement systems:

In the areas effected by the building work, provide low energy light fittings (fixed lights or lighting units) that a number of not less than three per four of all the light fittings in the main dwelling spaces of those areas.

In Laymens terms this means that if having an extension or new/replacement lighting system then 75% of the system should be low energy.

LED's or low energy lamps help comply with this regulation.

In new builds you may have noticed new light pendants, these ensure that only energy efficient lamps (bulbs) are fitted, and were initially installed by the designer of the system to comply with Part L of the building regulations - Sadly they usually mean that your old lamp shades wont fit! Naturally at CBE Ltd we can help with these small challenges.

  5. led-lighting
    5 Benefits of LED Lighting:

    • LED lamps are energy efficient. While incandescent lamps give approximately 80% their energy off to heat, LED lamps reverse that and give off only about 20% energy off to heat at similar brightness
    • LEDs last much longer. LED light bulbs can last over 100,000 hours
    • Unlike fluorescent lights, which takes a few seconds to "start up", LEDs come to their full brightness in microseconds
    • LED lights are versatile and come in a wide variety of colours and shapes and can be used for virtually any lighting application, i.e. landscape lighting, lighting refits, recessed lighting, undercabinet lighting, etc
    • LED lights do not contain mercury like flourescent bulbs so are safer. LED bulbs also are very durable
